Tokyo
Gastronomy “Joël Robuchon”
Why we point you here
A French château transplanted to Tokyo, glittering with crystal — three Michelin stars held every year since the city's first guide.
Few restaurants commit to a fantasy like this one: a French-style château in the middle of Tokyo's Ebisu Garden Place, its upstairs grand dining room dripping with Baccarat chandeliers and Swarovski crystal. It carries the name and legacy of the late Chef Joël Robuchon, the "Chef of the Century," and has held three Michelin stars in every Tokyo guide since the very first — a run of luxury-French consistency almost no one matches. The kitchen is led by Chef Kenichiro Sekiya, who in 2023 became the first Japanese chef ever named a Meilleur Ouvrier de France in cuisine — a very big deal. Expect the famous Robuchon touches: the caviar, the almost-illegally buttery mashed potato, a bread trolley and dessert wagon that test your resolve. Unapologetically grand, and gloriously so.
