Set inside a lovingly restored rail depot in Decatur, Kimball House borrows its name — and a bit of its swagger — from a grand 19th-century Atlanta hotel, reviving that era's habit of pairing fresh oysters with a proper cocktail. The raw bar is the best in the city, twenty-plus varieties from both coasts (a few grown on the restaurant's own Florida oyster farm). But the bar is the real headliner: beverage director Miles Macquarrie lets the seasons, local farms and an on-site garden run the menu, from house-made bitters and preserves to terroir-driven martinis built around a single herb grown out back. The drinks earned the Michelin Guide's Exceptional Cocktails Award for Atlanta in 2024 — though for a first visit the move is simple: a dozen oysters and the house martini, the Kimball House, and settle in.
